Employees want to work in a 'Green Organisation'

Organisations with solid environmental policies are gaining competitive advantage over other businesses, particularly in relation to recruitment, a new research report has revealed.

Recruitment is a big issue, with 47% of HR professionals believing employees prefer to work for firms with a strong green stance, and 46% saying it helps to attract potential recruits.  Some private sector organisations struggling to fill recruitment gaps could use their environmental stance to attract those leaving University - with the manufacturing and production sector also able to benefit from financial incentives offered by the government to encourage green practices.

Public sector organisations tendering for contracts could be more likely to win them if they had good environmental credentials.

The report shows UK workplaces are good at recycling and saving energy but more work could be done in encouraging staff to use green forms of transport.

Enjoy a more complex challenge

Project Planners/Analysts

If you're passionate about problem solving for London Underground, here's a unique one for you. The Tube - arguably the world's most complex integrated travel system - is currently undergoing a massive improvement programme. Lines are being upgraded. New communications systems are being put in. And extra trains are being introduced. Co-ordinating this work, and ensuring that it doesn't interrupt a service that millions rely on everyday, will provide a test for even the most brilliant of planners. But then you've never been one to shy away from a challenge.

Working with a specific project team within the Chief Programmes Office, who is responsible for delivering capital works programmes, you'll analyse contractors' plans and provide the insight and recommendations that will ensure solutions are delivered successfully. It's about managing delivery. And you'll need the vision to understand how your advice on one project will influence work across the network. But with your knowledge of project-planning software, and the experience you've gained on other major infrastructure projects, this should come naturally.

Want to stretch yourself on high-profile, massively complex projects, and work alongside some of the most talented people in the industry? Well, here's your chance. It could be the most rewarding challenge you ever take on.

To apply, please visit https://careers.tfl.gov.uk/fe/tpl_tfl01ssl.asp?newms=jj&id=32447

Alternatively, please call 0800 0155 072 and speak to a member of our Recruitment Team. Please quote Ref: TfL4574. Closing date: 21st September 2007.

We want to be as diverse as the city we represent and welcome applications from everyone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability.
